DAF has revamped its LF 7.5-tonner, with detailed changes to the truck’s 4.5-litre common rail engine. Injection pressure is up from 1600 to 1800 bar, the control system has been reconfigured and the pistons have been redesigned. The net result is better combustion and thus lower fuel consumption says the manufacturer.On offer at 140hp, 160hp and 185hp, and meeting the new Euro 5 exhaust emission regulations, the four-cylinder diesel is now available at 210hp too. A version of the engine is additionally marketed that meets the demanding EEV — Enhanced Environmentally-friendly Vehicle — standard and without the need for a soot filter to be fitted.
Minor changes have been made to the cab interior, with new trim materials and colours, and all LFs are fitted with a device which warns the driver when the tyre pressures are too low.
