Ten Modec electric vans will be joining FedEx’s UK fleet over the next few months and will go into service in London. M&S is running a refrigerated Modec van in the capital in place of a conventional diesel light commercial and calculates that by doing so it will save around nine tonnes of CO2 annually.

Because they’re electric, Modecs aren’t subject to the London congestion tax. Nor are they subject to MoT testing, the operator does not have to pay Vehicle Excise Duty and a tachograph does not have to be fitted and used says the Coventry-based manufacturer.
