Residual value analyst Cap has tipped the Custom to turn the tables on its benchmark competitor, the Volkswagen Transporter, by securing a 10.5% boost in its three year/60,000 RV compared to the current medium-sized Transit.

This would see the Custom valued at £750 more than the Transporter – a £1975 turnaround compared to the outgoing model, which lagged £1250 behind the VW van.

At four years and 80,000 miles, Cap forecast a £1500 improvement in the Custom’s RVs, moving it from being £1000 behind its key rival to £500 ahead.

According to Cap, a Transit Custom 290S 100hp six-speed 310Nm model will be worth £6800 after three years and £5250 after four years.
