The number of light commercial vehicle occupants slightly injured in road accidents last year totaled 4315, or more than 11 every day.

The fall in deaths is lower than the overall 16% drop across all road users at 1857 fatalities, but the number of road users seriously injured was down only 8% at 22,660.

Meanwhile, light vans made up their biggest ever proportion of UK road users last year, with 13.7% of vehicle miles driven last year. That compared with 13.2% in 2009, and 11.3% 10 years ago. Cars accounted for 79.2% of all journeys.
