Venture Automotive, trading as Mia-Electric UK, will import the plug-in vehicles from the factory in Cerizay, France where they are built.
The first model to arrive will be the Mia U light commercial, which has a price tag of £16,995 once the Government’s 20% Plug-in Van Grant (£5000) has been included.
Customer orders will dictate how many of the EVs come to the UK and a spokesman for the importer said “a handful” of the vehicles would cross the Channel in July. Previously the only Mia Electric vehicles in the UK were demonstrators.
The Mia U is a one seater van with a central driving position but has the option to accommodate a second seat. It is driven by two Lithium ion batteries generating 12kW and has a range of up to 74 miles. Mia said the van can be fully recharged in five hours and that a 10 minute charge would provide a five mile range.
The importer is pitching the Mia U at urban-based businesses using vans on short, predictable routes.
Paul Evans, managing director of Venture Automotive, said: “Urban environments, short journeys and regular return-to-base delivery fleets are ideal for electric vehicles. That’s where the cost per mile and zero emissions are greatest and what Mia is designed for.”
The Mia U comes with a five year/70,000 mile warranty for vehicle, battery, electric drivetrain and anti-corrosion and roadside assistance.
