Volkswagen has released further concept images of its upcoming new Amarok pick-up.
The manufacturer says the new model, due to launch globally later this year, will come with numerous driver assistance systems, and also improved off-road driving ability compared with previous-generation models thanks to increased ground clearance.
VW also says the new model will retain a V6 diesel engine.
At 5.35m long, the new Amarok is 10cm longer than the outgoing model, and it is also wider. VW says benefits of this size increase include more rear passenger legroom.
The manufacturer also says that the model’s load-carrying capability, including space to fit a Euro pallet between the wheel housings, remains intact.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles head of design Johann Kirzinger said: “We emphasise the different, expressive front designs of our pick-up with a charismatic Amarok signature that is also found with very large letters on the cargo box at the rear.
“The styling bar as a visual extension of the double cab in the cargo box once again gives the Amarok’s body dynamic, aerodynamic and very strong proportions.”
