Offering a range of 100 miles between charges, which take six to eight hours, the Kangoo ZE is fitted with a range gauge next to the speedometer and an ecometer colour-coded according to energy use.
The van will also be fitted with a system that pre-heats or pre-cools the vehicle during charging, reducing the energy needed for temperature control via the battery once it’s unplugged from the mains. Renault is quoting an 81mph top speed from the 44kW battery, and a payload of 650kg, while a choice of nine solid or metallic colours, or a company’s own livery, are on offer.
Renault prices Kangoo ZE
Renault's new electric van, the Kangoo ZE, will cost £16,990 when it arrives in UK showrooms in the summer of 2011. That price controversially excludes the battery, which Renault is leasing at a cost from £59 per month, a figure based on a four-year 36,000-mile plan.
