Along with utility firm EDF Energy, Route Monkey is developing strategies to enable organisations to integrate EVs into their fleets.
Participants in the scheme include Boots UK, London
Fire Brigade, Network Rail, Southwark Council and the University of Cumbria.
Route Monkey’s EVOS identifies which routes are suitable for electric vehicles to help with purchasing decisions and, once the vehicles are deployed, it aims to ensure operators maximise their use to achieve the best possible economy and emissions reduction.
Boss Colin Ferguson said: “Route Monkey can help make the integration of electric vehicles painless, efficient and cost-effective for fleet managers.”
The Energy Savings Trust will report its findings from the Plugged-in Fleets scheme in January 2013.
