A new driver app has been introduced by CV compliance firm TruTac.
The new TruTac app replaces the previous TruTac Checks offering, with the rebranding said to reflect its increased functionality, in addition to the existing vehicle walkaround checks function, and also its much closer integration with the company’s other software products.
The TruAnalysis, TruTime, and TruDocuments Premium systems can all now be accessed via the app, and data from walkaround checks can now be sent directly to the TruFleet system to aid with fleet maintenance planning.
There’s also an improved user interface, including clearer notifications, a dedicated accident reporting system, an updated traffic reports page, and a new light and dark mode.
The app is available on both Android and Apple platforms.
TruTac managing director Jemma James said: “It’s fully configurable and scalable according to the modules the company has live.
“A decade ago, it was really just about doing walkaround checks. That’s grown hugely to enable access to the document library, uploading documents, requesting holidays and a whole host of other integrated features.
“Because of the changes in technology on both the Apple and Android platforms, rather than tweak the app, we wanted to make a completely new one. It now has additional security features, greater configuration and more functionality.”
Although most TruTac customers use it for tachograph analysis, the company says the app is also useful for fleets that do not need this, such as those running LCVs.
James said: “We have some customers to whom tachograph rules don’t apply – but they still need to do walkaround checks, which is why we’ve kept that as a core function.
“We have van fleets which fall beneath the vehicle weight limit, or grey fleet vehicles, and other customers with heavier vehicles who are under some kind of exemption – they might be public service or utility vehicles, for example – but they still need to carry out walkaround checks for compliance.”
