ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE: IVECO Daily Mission Awards 2022 Q1 Round-up: Construction & Utility

Date: Thursday, February 3, 2022

Happy New Year, and welcome to 2022. The IVECO DAILY MISSION AWARDS is back again to celebrate the CONSTRUCTION & UTILITY sector. Solid foundations are key to any build and the IVECO Daily is no different with its high-strength steel ladder frame chassis underpinning the most adaptable light commercial vehicle, with class-exclusive gross weight range from 3.5 to a unique 7.2t. Endlessly tailorable, the optional Construction Pack collates key features such as heavy duty semi-elliptical or QUAD-TOR suspension, sump-guards, and clever Traction+ torque management system with Hill Descent Control to ready Daily for any mission. Over a turkey and cranberry sandwich or two, the judges have carefully surveyed the entries, and these are the three that stood out…

MKM

MKM Building Supplies – NOMINATED BY NORTH EAST TRUCK & VAN

Complementing its vibrant yellow IVECO-centric fleet, MKM continues to grow its
pool of Daily 35S14 HI-MATIC dropsides with nearly 90% of its 250 LCVs being
Daily. Reliant on tough build quality, payload and vehicle uptime, MKM operate the vehicles on a 3yr/100,000mi+ replacement cycle utilising IVECO’s adaptable 3XL R&M package to maximise TCO. The combination of a single passenger seat, lightweight Martin Williams (Hull) Ltd bodies and alloy wheels offer a clean, professional appearance while supporting the requirement to capitalise on cargo capacity and reduce returns to base. The judges were struck by the builders merchants’ focus on fleet renewal, supported by dealer, NETV to guarantee the latest emission standards and quality second-life vehicles. The company received high praise for its sponsorship of Hull’s football stadium and support of numerous charities including a recent donation of 30m3 of timber for a children’s adventure playground, as seen on BBC’s DIY SOS: The Big Build.

UKPN

UK Power Networks – NOMINATED BY NORTHERN COMMERCIALS

With its white and orange vehicles a common sight on the roads of London, the East and Southeast of England, UK Power Networks own and maintain electricity cabling and infrastructure that serve almost a third of the UK’s population. Utilising 200+ 3.5, 5 & 7.2T IVECO Daily vans & chassis cabs, safety and comfort take precedence with vehicles covering up to 40,000mi annually on a 5-7yr replacement cycle. The latest 3.5t 160hp vans feature a specification leveraging efficiency and well-being with tyre pressure monitor, climate control, rear camera & steps, alarm, suspended drivers’ seat, working lamps, a heavy-duty winch and specialist workshop conversion. Mission and on-board power needs dependent, vehicles are fitted with manual or 8-speed HI-MATIC gearboxes to ensure maximum flexibility, and a 3.5t towing capacity is critical for all vehicles. Judges were impressed by the broad utilisation of Daily’s skillset, confidence in the Northern Commercials sales & aftersales support and UKPN’s commitment to customer service.

ND Brown 6

ND Brown – NOMINATED BY SHERWOOD TRUCK & VAN

National specialist vehicle rental business, ND Brown fascinated the judges with the latest of its 80-strong Daily fleet. The heavy-duty 160hp 7.2t chassis cabs feature an insulated tipper body with grab-bucketed crane powered by an engine-mounted, belt-driven hydraulic pump PTO – a rare feature for LCVs with an automatic gearbox. The vehicles are expected to cover 30,000mi annually, contracted to an end user for five years. The panel recognised ND Brown’s commitment to customer satisfaction, utilising 7.2t Daily HI-MATIC over larger 7.5t trucks to reduce running costs through fuel economy and downtime due to component wear. Equally, the self-shifting gearbox simplifies urban and hazardous construction site manoeuvres. Operational safety was also noted following the fitment of LED warning lights, camera systems, vulnerable road user scanners for FORS and CLOCS compliance plus low-height access. The business has also managed to go carbon neutral and with the help of Carbon Footprint supports (among others) preservation projects in the Amazon Rainforest.
