Toyota reveals Proace van

Date: Monday, October 15, 2012

Toyota has revealed details of its new medium-sized Proace van that will go on sale in the second quarter of 2013.

The model is the result of a collaboration with French company PSA and is based on the Peugeot Expert and Citroen Dispatch vans.

The Proace will be available in two lengths and heights with payloads of up to 1200kg, load volumes of 5m3, 6m3 and 7m3 and towing capacity of up to 2000kg.

The line-up will be powered by one 1.6-litre engine mated to five-speed manual transmission and two six-speed manual 2.0-litre diesel engines with power outputs ranging from 89hp to 161hp.

To ease loading Toyota said customers can specify two sliding side doors and choose between a top-hinged tailgate and side-hinged rear doors that open to 270 degrees.

As well as a panel van, the Proace will be available as a glass van and a crew cab. Toyota claimed a high-set driver’s seat and panoramic windscreen create an MPV-like environment in the cab.

Standard equipment includes electric windows, central remote locking and an adjustable steering wheel.

Optional equipment includes air conditioning, cruise control, speed limiter, rear parking sensors and an audio system with Bluetooth.
