Auto Styling Truckman, which makes hardtop covers for pick-up trucks, has unveiled its new Utility Top range.

AST said it was experiencing increased demand for hardtops, especially from the construction industry, as the economic recovery gathers pace.

The Truckman Utility Top is now available for the Mitsubishi L200’s double cab long bed and club cab models, the Ford Ranger’s double cab and super cab models and the Toyota Hilux double cab.  A single cab version for the Ford Ranger will also be released later this year.

AST said converting pick-ups with the Utility Top created vehicles with the storage capacity and security of a van, without compromising their multi-terrain driving capabilities.

The Utility Top features a solid bulkhead and a sandwich panel roof for additional strength and insulation, according to AST, which added that pick-ups fitted with the top remained at under two metres high. The roof can carry a static weight of up to 100kg to provide additional storage space if required.

If the load area is kitted out with racking any equipment stored in it can be accessed through both rear and side hatch doors. These doors are designed to channel rain water away from the driver and vehicle contents when opened.

To allow vehicle converters to install additional lights and alarms systems, the top has a built-in electrical conduit for easy wiring and a white gloss interior to aid wet cleaning.
The Truckman Utility Top costs £1628 excl VAT.
