ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE: Iveco Daily Mission Awards 2022 Finale

Date: Monday, December 12, 2022

Over the past 12 months, the Daily Mission Awards have been shining a spotlight on operators and their innovative applications for the IVECO Daily. This year’s categories of Construction and Utility, Grounds Maintenance and Forestry, Passenger Transport and Lifestyle, as well as Delivery, were hotly contested. The impressive entrants that made the shortlists enjoyed a glitzy awards evening with the winner of each category presented with a trophy by broadcaster and sports journalist Laura Winter. Everyone dressed to impress, but who took top honours?

ND Brown

Building momentum at the start of the year was the Construction and Utility sector represented by UK Power Networks, MKM Building Supplies and ND Brown. Each finalist highlighted the Daily’s durable character and a broad range of payload options. The winner, supplied by Sherwood Truck & Van, was ND Brown. Judges were impressed with their highly capable specifications. These 7.2t chassis cabs host an insulated tipper body with a Palfinger grab-bucket crane powered by a belt-driven hydraulic pump PTO. Utilising the 7.2t Daily HI-MATIC over larger 7.5t trucks helped ND Brown reduce running costs.

GMCB

A great opportunity for the IVECO Daily to branch out, the Forestry and Grounds Maintenance category highlighted just how many applications this LCV can have. Finalists GMCB Ltd, Down to Earth Trees Ltd, and Westfield Tree Services all impressed the judges. The winner was… GMCB Ltd. Nominated and supplied by A M Phillip, its 10 highly adaptable Dailys have to be ready for any mission. Utilising a twin-wheel chassis to maximise traction, these 3.5t IVECO’s feature a high-sided dropside body by DPH and even a snowplough mounting.

The AA

Our next destination was the Passenger Transport and Lifestyle segment, a chance to further exemplify the IVECO Daily’s diverse nature. The AA, Purbeck Ice Cream and Dynes Motor Group all made the shortlist, but it was The AA that wowed judges the most. This pair of Daily crew cabs – supplied by Northern Commercials – are a welcome sight for anyone stranded at the roadside. Modern cars are becoming bigger and heavier – especially with the advent of EVs - but with a payload of 3,500kg, these 7.2t vehicles have the capacity to recover most passenger cars without the need for a 7.5t truck. Their lightweight body was fabricated by Roger Dyson Ltd.

Currys

The final package in our quartet of categories was Delivery. Finalists impressed the panel with the application of 7.2t Dailys capitalising on their payload capabilities and reducing operating costs versus 7.5-tonne options. Drink Warehouse UK Ltd, Flemings of Rosyth Ltd and Currys all received high praise, but it was Currys that took the victory. Northern Commercials South supplied Currys its fleet of IVECO Dailys complete with roof-mounted solar panels that work in conjunction with an intelligent auxiliary split charge battery system. Manchester-based Alloy Bodies helped to maximise payload. This dedication to the mission and innovative means of boosting sustainability was marked out as being exceptional by the judges.

All four category winners impressed, however, only one can take the top prize and be crowned the overall Daily Mission Award winner of 2022. The class of 2022 presented a difficult choice for judges, but this finalist truly highlighted the hard-working spirit of the Daily and truly utilised its broad range of abilities. Congratulations to... ND Brown!
