More than a third of UK tradespeople say tool theft from their vans is a daily worry, according to research by Bunker.
The storage brand said that the issue appeared to remain a big source of anxiety despite high-profile campaigns.
Bunker’s research also found tradespeople having issues with the tidiness of their vans, with 30% of those surveyed saying they often wasted time looking for tools, and more than three quarters admitting the state of their van could get them down.
Bunker commissioned the research as part of the launch of its new secure van storage range, which holds police-backed Secured by Design status and a silver rating by Sold Secure.
Head of marketing Sarah Hartland said: “We know that tradespeople are some of the hardest workers out there – it’s a stressful job, with long hours, challenging conditions and the perpetual threat of tool theft. With all that going on, it’s no wonder some trades just don’t have time to keep their vans as organised as they’d like to.
“As part of creating our van storage range we really wanted to listen to the industry, understand their concerns and how we could help make life easier.
“While the issue of theft is multifaceted, we want to play our part with solutions that offer protection and reassurance.”
