The 7.5-tonner is not dead yet

Date: Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Predictions that tighter driver licensing legislation will kill off the 7.5-tonner have yet to be borne out if two recent fleet orders are anything to go by.

Construction group Carillion is taking delivery of nine Iveco Eurocargo 7.5 tonners. All 75E16Ks equipped with Thompson tipper bodies, they’re fitted with EuroTronic semi-automatic transmission. Now standard on Eurocargo at 7.5-tonnes, it’s extraordinarily easy to use.

Elsewhere, Braces Bakery has taken delivery of two DAF LF45 7.5-tonners and four MAN TGL 7.5-tonners. To be used to distribute an extensive range of loaves, rolls, buns and cakes to more than 3,000 stores across Wales and the South of England, they’ve been acquired under a five-year contract-hire-with-maintenance agreement with Fraikin.
