Nissan reveals new NV200 taxi for London

Nissan has revealed the new look of its London taxi, which is based on the NV200 light van platform.
Designed at the Nissan Design Europe Centre in Paddington, London, the brand will launch the production version of the cab in December 2014.
A zero-emission electric E-NV200 taxi will be introduced the following year.
Nissan unveiled its original vision for a London taxi in August 2012 but in response to feedback from Transport for London and the London Mayor’s office, it has re-worked the vehicle to bring its appearance more in line with that of the traditional black cab.
A 1.6-litre petrol engine, wedded to an automatic gearbox, will power the NV200 taxi, which adheres to TfL Hackney Carriage regulations with a 7.6-metre turning circle. The new front-end design encompasses round headlamps and a re-modelled grille to reflect the traditional black cab face, LED lighting to enhance visibility of the illuminated taxi sign and completely new bumper panels.
Nissan franchised dealer group, Glyn Hopkin, has been appointed as the exclusive retailer to sell the Nissan NV200 Taxi for London from its showroom in Canary Wharf.
