IMAGE OF THE MONTH: Will a hot Honda perform a Civic duty?

The UK pick-up market is rapidly expanding with sales going through the roof and many new manufactures entering – or planning to enter – the fray.
However, contrary to the image you see on this page, Honda is not one of them. This rendering, created by serial automotive photoshopper Tamas Samok, imagines the Japanese manufacturer’s Civic Type R hot-hatch in a more versatile guise.
However, our hopes for a 310hp Civic hot pick-up were dashed by a spokesman for the brand. “This is amazing,” he told What Van? “But no, there are definitely not any plans for a production version.”
Honda does produce a pick-up – the Ridgeline – but it is only available in North America and is powered by a 280hp 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine. The Civic Type R is not the first car to be given Samok’s pick-up treatment, with the Hungarian artist focusing on the Citroen C5 Aircross and Kia Stinger recently.
