Business mobility and leasing firm Alphabet has announced that its AlphaCity vehicle sharing platform is now available for LCV fleets.

The firm says the announcement, alongside the technology being made available with a wider selection of cars, will help broaden the appeal of AlphaCity for organisations of all sizes.

The keyless access, shared use service was previously only available with BMW and Mini cars.

Alphabet has also redesigned the AlphaCity reservation platform, as well as integrating it into its AlphaGuide app.

Head of marketing and business development Carsten Kwirandt said: “We continue to offer our customers the best-fit business mobility solution for their company.

“Improving our highly-successful product AlphaCity by expanding the choice of vehicles which are able to be shared within a fleet, is our latest way of doing so.”

When asked which LCVs AlphaCity would be available with, Alphabet car sharing and e-mobility manager Daniel St Claire said: “The new AlphaCity MultiMake technology can be fitted to almost any LCV as per the customer’s needs.

“Ahead of our launch today, as well as in order to demonstrate AlphaCity to commercial vehicle decision makers, we have installed and tested it with a small sized van (Renault Kangoo), a medium sized van (Mercedes Vito) as well as a larger van (Mercedes Sprinter).

“These are the first steps in bringing the AlphaCity keyless sharing technology to commercial vehicle fleets for the first time.”

The enhanced AlphaGuide app is available from today in app stores and will be updated automatically for existing users.

In addition to key existing app functions such as access to contract data, electric charging locations or managing service requests, Alphabet says the new AlphaGuide will improve the user experience through a new look and feel to make it easier to use and more intuitive.

Users access the CarSharing section of AlphaGuide by selecting AlphaCity from the menu and can then book an AlphaCity vehicle for business purposes (according to their company rules) and view all upcoming reservations in detail including vehicle details, pick-up location, as well as the date and time of booking.

Users also have the ability to access or cancel their existing AlphaCity reservations via the app.
