Barrett: 'We are now in a great position to announce some really exciting developments"

LDV’s next-generation V80, due to land in 2019, will come with a 2.0-litre Euro6 diesel engine with a power output of up to 214hp, says the manufacturer.

The 5.0t van will have an increased payload of 1.3-2.5t, and lower ground clearance too.

The company says the vehicle will come with intelligent safety features, a smooth driving experience and environmental protections as standard.

Meanwhile, the retailer Ikea has taken delivery of two EV80s – the electric version of the current V80 – which will be used at its Exeter store, while Royal Mail took delivery of an EV80 on trial last month.

Overseas, the LDV T60 became the first Chinese-produced pick-up to be awarded a five-star safety rating from ANCAP, Australia and New Zealand’s leading independent vehicle safety advocate, and the manufacturer anticipates that the vehicle will generate significant interest should it become available in Europe.

According to Mark Barrett, general manager of LDV for UK and Ireland: “Whether it is for lifestyle or business use, it is imperative that we have the right product for the right market and we are really excited by the T60, which is in a class of its own.”

Barrett continued: “Having re-established the LDV brand and laid the foundations for future growth with a fantastic dealer network, finance offers, warranty and aftersales service, we are now in a great position to announce some really exciting developments for LDV over the next two years.

“The expanding range of products will offer great additions to our fleet and support dealers with a full range line-up, whilst allowing us to continue to deliver high-spec vehicles at an affordable price.”
