Renault Kangoos added to Wessex Water fleet

Wessex Water has taken delivery of 67 Renault Kangoo vans.
The latest order adds to the Kangoo’s presence with the firm, with the model now accounting for around 60% of its 450-strong small van fleet.
The new Kangoos feature Wessex Water’s new livery – the first vans on the fleet to do so.
They will be used by scientists, water samplers and inspectors working in Dorset, Somerset, Bristol, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Hampshire.
Wessex Water said impressive reliability and whole-life costs from its existing Kangoos were key factors in the new order, along with the van’s ability to meet Euro6 emissions standards without needing AdBlue.
The vans have been specced with a 75hp 1.5-litre dCi diesel engine, returning an official combined fuel economy of 65.7mpg and CO2 emissions of 112g/km.
They are in Business trim, with features including DAB radio with aux input, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, electric door mirrors, electric front windows, remote central locking, electronic stability control, hill-start assist and Grip Xtend.
From the options list, Wessex Water also added the R-Link multimedia system with built-in satnav and a 68mph speed-limiter.
The vans have been tailored to the firm’s requirements with bespoke racking systems and sanitation systems by QI Van Systems.
Specialist converter Tevo has also equipped a number of vehicles with additional lighting and warning beacons.
Wessex Water head of fleet Martin Crocker said: “The Kangoo continues to be perfect for our requirements, representing great value and being popular with our operatives.
“Our previous ones proved to have near bulletproof reliability, racking up 25,000 miles a year, and the residuals have stood up equally well. For us, there are very few other small vans that offer such an attractive package.
“Based on our experiences of the Kangoo we’ve now ordered an electric Z.E. version, which we’ll appraise with a view to adding more in the future, and also our first Renault Trafic, which compares very competitively against some of the larger vans we’ve chosen in the past.”
Renault UK managing director Vincent Tourette said: “It’s excellent to see such a highly regarded business as Wessex Water continue to call on the Renault Kangoo for its small LCV needs.
“Even more pleasing is that its positive learnings from using our vans day-in, day out for a number of years is set to have a greater influence on its fleet and also as it takes its first steps into using electric vehicles.”
