An onboard camera telematics system is to be installed across the fleet of an electrical and security installations firm.

Camera Telematics’ Street Angel solution is to be fitted across Secure Systems UK’s fleet of 20 vans and a car.

Secure Systems said it opted for Street Angel because, unlike the firm’s previous telematics arrangement, it provides tracking functionality combined with an on-board camera setup.

Street Angel uses 4G connectivity to constantly record video evidence of the journey and the vehicle’s surroundings on to the internal memory.

When accelerometers detect an impact or harsh driving event, a video clip of the incident is immediately uploaded to the cloud, and an email alert to the fleet manager generated, with the relevant data supplied and the video available to watch immediately.

The telematics aspect, as well as identifying the location of drivers, can also show when they last drove and for how long, helping with efficient and safe deployment.

Secure Systems operations director Darren Roberts said: “Partnering with Camera Telematics has ensured that with the implementation of Street Angel, we are confident we have the most advanced on board vehicle camera solution available fitted throughout our fleet of vehicles.

“This ensures that not only are our drivers safe and accountable but that as a business we are best protected from any potential incidents of insurance fraud.”

Camera Telematics UK MD Errin McNamee said: “The Street Angel solution delivers not just peace of mind for Secure Systems in ensuring safer driving and accurate details of driver location, but also, most importantly, complete protection against fraudulent insurance claims and reliable accident management support.”
