Northgate adds to electric van rental fleet

Northgate Vehicle Hire has announced the addition of 25 electric vans to its rental fleet.

The Nissan ENV200 Acenta vans will be available to hire from July, and can be reserved now.

The new vans join Northgate’s existing electric line-up, which includes full-electric and hybrid vehicles, and the firm says electric models have already been successfully piloted with some of its customers.

It says the vans are an ideal choice for businesses operating in the new London Ultra Low Emission Zone, for which it is offering a 12 month van hire discount linked to the Transport for London scrappage scheme.

Northgate fleet director Tim Bailey said: “We have long provided our customer with bespoke specific electric vehicles to support specific needs or projects. We are delighted to be increasing our fleet of electric vans available on the general rental fleet for a wider range of customers to experience.

“Our customers are coming under increasing pressure to adopt more environmentally-friendly vehicles and electric vans are often the best choice. They are especially relevant to last mile delivery companies who don’t need to cover large distances but need to operate within city centres.”

“By making the switch to vehicle hire, businesses can add less-polluting vans to their fleets immediately without the substantial financial outlays. We also offer to buy our customers’ old vans and rent them newer models, so that they can reduce their environmental footprint and invest the freed-up capital in business growth.”
