Europcar launches telematics and video service for van rental

Europcar Van and Truck has announced a new UK partnership with Geotab and SureCam to deliver telematics and video technology with van rental.
The service is available as an addition to Europcar’s Flex long-term van rentals, offering fleet managers information on a personalised dashboard, with the aim of helping them to understand driving habits and reward safe drivers, as well as better utilise their fleets and plan maintenance.
In addition, if an accident occurs, the fleet manager is immediately notified and the video telematics can be used in the insurance claims process.
Europcar says the service is easy to use, with training and ongoing support provided by trained engineers, and installation or de-installation is provided free of charge.
Europcar Van and Truck LCV sales director Stuart Russell said: “We are always exploring new ways to add value for our customers. SureCam strategic partner director Sam Footer said: “Our partnership with Europcar offers clear value for fleet managers utilising rental vehicles. The opportunity to include SureCam camera technology will help improve driving safety and therefore operational efficiencies and reduce insurance claims.”
