LEVC has announced that construction firm Kier Group has become the latest company to take a prototype version of its VN5 van for real-world testing.

The prototype is an LEVC TX taxi with a full interior conversion.

Trials are being done ahead of the launch of the TX-based production VN5 later this year.

A range-extender EV, it has a pure electric range of 61 miles, and can cover over 300 miles in one go if the onboard petrol engine is used to charge the battery.

More than 25 businesses are now taking part in trials.

LEVC CEO Joerg Hofmann said: “Kier Group operates a significant fleet of commercial vehicles all over the UK, used in everything from highways maintenance to urban construction and is sector in which we believe our electric VN5 will perform well.

“As we move towards the launch of VN5 in Q4, we are looking forward to establishing a commercial vehicle partnership with Kier?.”
