A delivery of 45 new vans for housing association Together Housing has been coordinated by Lex Autolease.

The new vans – Ford Transit Customs in a mix of L1 and L2 vehicle lengths – join a 400-strong fleet, and are to be used for vital customer call outs such as emergency repairs and utility safety inspections.

They were ordered before the coronavirus lockdown came in, and were midway through being converted when the restrictions came into force.

Lex says it worked with the converter and Together Housing to get the vehicles completed, before co-ordinating collection.

This involved a number of volunteers being transported by minibus to the converter’s site in Wakefield, all while adhering to the government’s social distancing guidelines.

Lex customer relationship manager Melanie Holmes said: “It was essential for us to get these vehicles to Together Housing in a safe and responsible way, so they could get more staff on the road and attend emergency appointments.

“It was great to see so many people pull together, to achieve the right outcome, not just for Together Housing, but for its customers, too.”
