NAMA pledges support for motor auctions during shutdown

The National Association of Motor Auctions (NAMA) has vowed to support its members during the period of enforced auction closures caused by the coronavirus.
On 23 March the prime minister, Boris Johnson, announced that all non-essential retail businesses, including auction sites, should close for at least three weeks in a bid to stop the virus spreading by banning gatherings of large numbers of people.
NAMA says it will work closely with the government in order to represent the needs of its members, as well as advising on support available to businesses, such as payments to furloughed employees through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme, delays in VAT payments, and grants for small businesses.
Louise Wallis, head of the NAMA, said: “We are continuously in conversation with our members and will be constantly supporting and updating them over the coming weeks and months to ensure they are well equipped for the duration and aftermath of this troubling period.”
