Renault unveils electric Zoe Van

Renault has announced the Zoe Van, a commercial version of its electric city car.
Described by Renault as the only fully electric car-derived van on the market today, the model is heavily based on the regular Zoe, with the same 107hp electric motor and 52kWh battery offering a range of up to 245 miles on the WLTP cycle.
The Zoe Van comes as standard with a type-2 charging cable, allowing a 100% battery charge in three hours using a 22kW charger, while 50kW rapid charging capability is available as an option.
The van conversion has been achieved by removing the car’s back seats to create a load bay, and covering the rear windows with an opaque film. There’s a completely flat load floor, with four anchorage points for tying items down, and a mesh bulkhead behind the front seats.
The load bay, which can be accessed by the car’s rear side doors as well as via the rear hatch, measures up to 1m3, while the maximum payload is up to 387kg with entry-level Business trim, and 368kg with the higher-grade Business+ trim.
To help with security, the car’s parcel shelf remains in place, but this can be removed to accommodate bulkier items. A Thatcham-approved Category 1 alarm is also standard.
The commercial Zoe’s connection with the Zoe car extends to the interior, which is carried over wholesale.
Standard equipment with Business trim includes a 10in TFT instrument cluster, a 7in touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity, air conditioning, a Renault keycard with hands-free entry, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, automatic light and wipers, full LED headlights, front fog lights, cruise control with speed limiter, and the Z.E. Voice low speed pedestrian warning system.
Stepping up to Business+ trim adds further equipment including sat-nav, wireless smartphone charging, rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, 100% recycled seat upholstery, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high and low beam, traffic sign recognition, climate control, electrically folding body colour mirrors, and 16in alloy wheel.
Business+ trim can also be ordered with a Technology Pack, which ups the size of the touchscreen to 9.3in and adds front parking sensors, and a Winter Pack, which includes heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
For fleet customers, a telematic control unit is also available as an option across the range.
As with the car, the Zoe Van gets a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty, while the battery gets a separate eight-year, 100,000-mile warranty. Service intervals are every 12 months/18,000 miles.
Excluding VAT, and including the government’s plug-in van grant, the Zoe Van is priced at £19,380 with Business trim, and £20,330 with Business+. Rapid charging capability costs £875 extra with both.
Orders will open in August, with the first deliveries in November.
