Skilled Labour Services credits Lightfoot with improving van fleet safety

Civil engineering firm Skilled Labour Services says it has seen incidents of high risk driving from its fleet drop by two-thirds since installing Lightfoot technology.

Skilled Labour Services runs a fleet of 14 Vauxhall Combo vans without a dedicated fleet manager, and is therefore said to have been looking for a self-managing solution that would help to cut both fuel and vehicle bills, at the same time as helping its drivers to be safer on the road.

Lightfoot’s dashboard device, which advises drivers on their driving style in real time, is also said to have improved fuel consumption by 4.9%, reduced idling by 4%, and reduced CO2 emissions by almost 5%.

Lightfoot co-founder and director of partnerships Martin Kadhim said: “Many smaller fleets struggle to manage the way in which their drivers use their vehicles. That can result in a culture of more aggressive driving, which has negative implications for vehicle wear and tear, accident rates, mpg and emissions.

“The holy grail for smaller fleets is to find a solution that changes all that, without the need for a dedicated fleet manager. That’s where Lightfoot steps in.”
