Ford has announced the introduction of new management software designed to increase the productivity of LCV fleets.

Ford Telematics Essentials provides smart maintenance alerts based on real-time vehicle data, as well as each vehicle’s current health status.

The system receives data automatically from the FordPass Connect modem, which has been standard on vehicles including the Transit, Transit Custom and Ranger since mid-2019.

It provides a summary of an entire fleet and information for each vehicle, such as mileages, oil life, and engine hours, and maintenance alerts that allow managers to click through immediately and scheduled servicing at their convenience.

The system groups vehicles by statuses including ‘up to date’, ‘action soon’, ‘action now’, and ‘off the road’, with the aim of providing maximum clarity of fleet availability.

Ford Telematics Essentials is available free to operators, and forms part of the wider FordLiive connected system.

Ford of Europe commercial vehicle aftersales director Owen Gregory said: “Introducing Ford Telematics Essentials is a major milestone in the delivery of our FORDLiive service and will help fleet customers maximise their productivity at no extra cost.

“Having instant visibility of the health of every connected vehicle is a real game-changer, and promises to transform how businesses run and maintain their fleets.”
