Fleet management firm Webfleet Solutions has announced that Mercedes-Benz has joined its OEM.connect telematics programme.

This means that Mercedes-Benz vans, as well as cars, with line-fitted connectivity, can be connected with Webfleet’s platform without the need for extra hardware to be installed. Instead, all that’s needed to connect is the van’s VIN.

OEM.connect allows access to Webfleet features including fleet performance reporting, trip data, GPS tracking, and fuel consumption data, as well as instant notifications about vehicle diagnostics, such as tyre pressure warnings.

All vehicle data is displayed in the Webfleet interface, and can also be accessed via a mobile app.

Webfleet Solutions Europe vice president Taco van der Leij said: “We are happy to partner with Mercedes-Benz Connectivity Services to further expand our OEM.connect programme and offer an integrated telematics solution to our joint customers.

“With OEM.connect we are unlocking the end-user value of vehicle connectivity to simplify fleet management and reduce costs, with a secure and affordable solution.

“The cooperation underlines once more the importance of telematics data and their analysis for fleets and how pooling expertise can accelerate the application of this technology.”
