A new Sportline variant of the Transporter T6.1 medium van has been unveiled by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

The new trim level is available in short or long wheelbase versions, and as a panel van or Kombi.

Compared with the regular Transporter, it features sporty styling details including a red contrast front grille strip, a new front bumper, a new rear spoiler, illuminated side bars, and 18in alloy wheels, while the van’s suspension has been lowered by 30mm.

Inside, there’s leather and suede trim with honeycomb stitching.

In addition, a Sportline Black Edition model offers further features, including an exclusive alloy wheel colour, matt black side bars, Eibach coilover suspension, Black Edition decals, a 90% rear window tint on Kombi models, and a Sportline gift box.

Standard equipment with the Sportline includes heated front seats, a digital cockpit display, DAB radio, air conditioning, a heated windscreen, and Discover Media sat-nav – the latter upgraded to Discover Media Pro, with a 9.2in touchscreen, with the Black Edition.

LED headlights with high beam assist are also included with the Sportline range, as is a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors, and autonomous emergency braking.

The Sportline range is powered by the most powerful engine in the existing Transporter range, a 2.0-litre, 204hp diesel, with seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.

Prices excluding VAT are £42,940 for a short wheelbase panel van, £43,795 for a long wheelbase panel van, £46,450 for a short wheelbase Kombi, £47,405 for a long-wheelbase Kombi, £45,140 for a Black Edition short wheelbase panel van, and £49,450 for a Black Edition short wheelbase Kombi.

Orders will open later this month, with the first deliveries expected in July.
