Iveco has signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese commercial vehicle manufacturer Foton, to explore collaboration in areas including EVs.

Iveco said the partnership was part of its plan to extend its LCV line-up below the Daily large van.

It said that with Foton, it would investigate using its sales channels for an electric panel van in Europe and South America in the lightest category of up to 3.5t.

This follows on from a deal announced earlier this year for Iveco to sell and service a Hyundai 2.5-3.5t chassis cab in Europe, with Iveco saying its collaborations with Foton and Hyundai aim to create a comprehensive line-up of electric CVs.

The Foton deal also allows it and Iveco to explore additional future synergies, including the possible localisation of activities in Europe and South America, and supply opportunities including through Iveco Group’s powertrain brand FPT Industrial.
