Broker The Green Insurer is adding van insurance to its range of services.

The broker launched in December, initially offering car insurance.

It says it will offer policies covering all classes of van insurance, including social and commuting, business use (carriage of own goods) and haulage (delivering goods) suitable for couriers and delivery drivers.

It says it will aim to help cut costs for van drivers by negotiating special deals with insurers, and drivers will also benefit from rewards for environmentally-friendly driving worth up to £20 a year through its Leaves reward scheme.

A Green Driving Score in the company’s app is said to monitor how customers drive and how far they drive, to enable The Green Insurer to calculate rewards and how much carbon to offset.

The score will also be used to calculate renewal premiums and to offer discounts when customers renew.

The Green Insurer says customers can earn discounts of up to 6% on weekly supermarket shopping through a range of partnerships that include leading retailers as well as restaurant chains and transport groups.
