Auto Windscreens is predicting a 10% drop in its annual fleet insurance and fuel bill having installed an integrated video telematics solution across its van fleet.

TomTom Telematics’ Webfleet software has been integrated with VisionTrack’s VT2000 connected camera system to provide a single interface integrated fleet management solution across the company’s fleet of 285 vans.

The technology is designed to help managers respond quickly to incidents such as accidents or breakdowns, and improve driver behaviour, picking up on incidents such as harsh braking or speeding with associated video evidence.

It is hoped this will also deliver maintenance savings, with less aggressive driving reducing wear and tear on the vans.

Auto Windscreens says rapid and reliable identification of the incident details needed for insurance claims will also help it minimise claims costs, and therefore premiums.

The firm’s fleet manager Shaun Atton said: “Knowing the vehicle speed and g-force severity at the precise point of impact has also given us indisputable evidence to refute personal injury claims, helping to reduce our loss ratio with our insurer.

“It also gives our insurer the information they need to be able to offer rapid settlement without having to go through protracted and expensive court proceedings.”
