Citroen has confirmed it will reveal its all-new Relay large van at the 2014 Commercial Vehicle show in April.
Going on sale in the third quarter of 2014, the new large light commercial will again come in panel van, chassis cab, chassis crew cab and Citroen’s Ready-to-Run conversion line-up including dropside trucks, tippers and Luton vans.
Citroen has stolen a lead on its Peugeot and Fiat partners in development of the trio of Relay, Boxer and Ducato large vans, with Peugeot not attending the CV Show and Fiat yet to confirm if its Ducato will be making an appearance. The three are all likely to go on sale in the UK at the same time.
Citroen has also confirmed a new van boss, with Jeremy Smith taking on the role of head of commercial vehicles and business sector operations from 1 March.
Smith replaces Scott Michael, who left to join disabled vehicle organisation Motability, and steps up from his previous role as Citroen UK’s head of sales programmes.
“The Relay is a key model in our LCV range,” said Smith. “By application of innovative technology the new models will improve and build upon the operational advantages its predecessor. These include class-leading payloads, as well as one of the largest, most practical load compartments in its class.”
Last year the Relay was Citroen’s second-biggest selling model behind the Berlingo, and number 20 on the overall list of LCV registrations.
