Conversion firm Coolkit has supplied a pair of fridge-freezer vans to food and drink wholesaler Curd and Cure to meet demand for the delivery of fresh produce.
As the Covid-19 pandemic took hold, Kent-based Curd and Cure lost 20% of its business as bars and restaurants were forced to close, so it took the decision to diversify beyond the hospitality sector into supplying staple goods such as flour, pasta and fresh eggs as supermarkets became overwhelmed by the sudden surge in demand.
“People started to look at farm shops and independent retailers to fill those gaps and while a lot of what we do is speciality products, we knew had the capability to diversify and help these retailers out,” said Curd and Cure’s md Stuart Grant.
With the number of orders increasing from across the south east, Grant turned to Coolkit to supply the two temperature-controlled vans, having previously taken delivery of four vans from the company.
PMD Business Finance facilitated the finance package for Curd and Cure’s acquistion of the vans and Media Fleet applied the wholesaler’s wrapping to the vehicles.
The vans were converted, liveried and delivered to site within four weeks.
