Body builder CPL (Cumberland Platforms), which specialises in producing cherry picker conversions, has revealed it ordered 250 Isuzu D-Max pick-up trucks last year, making it the brand’s largest single customer.

As a result of this growth, which represented a doubling of volume compared to 2018, Isuzu has awarded CPL, which has been one of its approved converters for five years, a Platinum Partnership.

CPL turned to the D-Max as a base for its conversions when Land Rover pulled the plug on the Defender in 2016.

The CPL conversion is type approved with a 3.5t suspension upgrade and 7.0t gross train weight. It has a working height of 13.1 metres and a working outreach of 6.2 metres. The platform knuckle remains within the vehicles working envelope at all times, which removes the posibility of it being hit by oncoming vehicles when working at height on the highways, claims CPL.
CPL also designed the ATAT tipper mounted on the D-Max. It has a 50 degree tipping body, a 1300kg payload and a 180kg capacity secure aluminium locker at the rear of the cab as standard.
