Dashcam provider Vision Track introduced the next generation of its in-vehicle camera systems with live high-definition video at the Birmingham show.

The VT4000 multi-camera hub (up to four cameras) offers live and historical HD video, first notice of loss (FNOL) data transmission for insurance claims, telematics, tracking support, and data for driver education, according to MD Simon Marsh.

He said the VT 2.2 connected camera, meanwhile, provides full HD video, FNOL data transmission seconds after an incident, is fully compatible with all existing telematics systems as a stand-alone camera or can be used with the VT4000.

Finally, Marsh described the company’s VT App as user-friendly Android and IoS software that gives access to all fleet data on the move. He said: “The new Vision Track products provide instant live video control of your vehicles, and place the fleet manager in the cab of
every van in their fleet.

“You see what your driver sees, and with the VT App you can do this anywhere, and at any time.”

When it comes to insurance cases Marsh warned: “If it’s a disputed claim you’ve got to prove it.” But with the HD footage he claimed: “You can see who the driver is and how many people are in the vehicle.

“If you can prove there’s not four people [in the vehicle] but one the claim will evaporate.”
He said the video could also have captured the registration number of the other vehicle if it had left the scene.

Marsh claimed the cameras are particularly useful for operators of branded light commercial vehicles, which ‘cash for crash’ criminal gangs target as they know these vehicles will be insured.
