Volkswagen has added a frugal Bluemotion engine to its Transporter van.
The new variant uses the firm’s 102hp 2.0-litre diesel unit and is capable of achieving 51.4mpg, while CO2 emissions are down to 145g/km, according to VW.
These efficiency figures represent a 7% improvement on the entry-level Startline version that it is based on.
In order to achieve these improvements, the Bluemotion Transporter is equipped with wheel spoilers, lower suspension, modified gear ratios, low-friction tyres, cruise control and a speed limiter.
The eco version costs from £19,670 excluding VAT and is on sale now.
