The Croydon-based firm has taken on 100 Primastar 2900 115hp long-wheelbase, low-roof vans, and eight 2.5-litre turbodiesel double cab Navara Tekna pick-ups to service its contracts with breakdown and recovery companies across London and the home counties.
Kavanagh expects the vehicles to cover an average 50,000
miles a year over a period of up to four years.
The Primastar has become the mainstay of the fleet and is equipped with diagnostic kit aimed at completing roadside repairs. If this is not possible the vans are also equipped with towing gear.
The group’s boss, Kieron Kavanagh, said: “The long-wheelbase Primastar offers a good combination of driver comfort and load area, and its low roof enables us to get to stranded customers in multi-storey car parks. Its towing weight of 2000kg enables us to recover most cars.”
The Navara Teknas can attend breakdowns in less-accessible areas of the countryside and can provide assistance with wheel changes and jump-starting vehicles with flat batteries.
