A six-speed manual gearbox comes as standard, but an automatic option — also six-speed — is available for an additional £1,505.
Dispensing with the rear seating provides a 2.1m3 load area which features a full length phenolic floor covering. A two-piece bulkhead prevents the load from joining the cab occupants in the event of an accident. Maximum towing weight for a braked trailer is 3,500kg.
Gross payload is rated at 634kg and access to the load area is via either the two hinged side doors retained from the passenger-carrying models or the rear split top/bottom-hinged tailgate. The rear side windows have been filled in to hide the load area from prying eyes.
On sale from 19 March the Discovery 3 Commercial has a basic price of £24,034 and comes with 17in alloy wheels, ABS, volumetric alarm and an electronic handbrake. Move up to the £27,013 XS Commercial and it adds powerfold door mirrors, roof rails, 18in alloy wheels, cruise control, heated front screen and washers, rear parking sensors and air con to the package.
