Vehicle rental firm Thrifty UK has announced that its managing director Roger Hancock, will assume the role of chairman on 1 January 2018, taking over from Nigel Spokes, who will become a non-executive director while remaining the principal shareholder.
Martin Wilson, currently sales director of Hyundai Motor UK, will join the business as managing director, reporting directly to Hancock.
Hancock commented: “The business is growing exponentially and we have taken this opportunity to further develop and strengthen our senior management team by bringing Martin on board.”
Hancock said Wilson would be supported by both himself and Thrifty UK’s senior management team, comprising Peter Granados, Alison Chadwick, Caroline Gallagher, Linda Malliff, Elliot Scott and Steve Sandford.
With 2,000 staff, Thrifty claims to be the largest privately owned vehicle rental company in the UK.
In August Thrifty UK joined the Institute of Car Fleet Management’s (ICFM) Corporate Investor Programme, which aims to overcome skills shortages faced by employers with fleets, with member businesses being able to partake in ICFM training courses.
