The Mercedes Sprinter has topped a list of vehicles with the most reported diesel particulate filter issues in 2015 to date.
According to reconditioning specialists DPF Clean Team, enquiries received for the Sprinter and second-placed Mazda 6 amounted to 43.5% of complaints about vehicles on its top 10 list, the vast majority of which, it said, came from fleet managers.
“Fleet vehicles doing lots of short journeys are more likely to experience an issue because a unit is not given the required time to regenerate,” said Cameron Bryce, director at DPF Clean Team.
He added: “Our advice to fleet managers and drivers is to seek help immediately whenever the DPF warning light is illuminated on the dashboard because the more you leave a problem, the worse it can get.”
Four other vans appeared in the Top 10 list of vehicles with the most reported DPF problems: the VW Crafter at number four and the Ford Transit, VW Transporter and Renault Trafic at eight, nine and 10 respectively.
