Mercedes-Benz has revealed full UK market details of the electric version of its Sprinter large van.

The eSprinter comes with a 114hp electric motor, and in official WLTP testing can achieve a driving range of up to 96 miles when fitted with an optional 50mph speed limiter, or 83 miles with the standard 74mph limiter.

There is a choice of two different maximum DC charging speeds. The 20kW version can be charged from 10-80% in two hours, while the 80kW version takes 30 minutes.

Only one trim level is available, Progressive, with standard equipment including a heated driver’s seat, a full-width partition, a height and rake adjustable steering wheel, air conditioning, DAB radio, Bluetooth with hands-free function, a USB port, a wooden load bay floor, an eight-metre mode 3 type 2 charging cable, headlight assistant, heat-insulating glass, and 270-degree double-wing rear doors.

Standard safety features include autonomous emergency braking, attention assist, crosswind assist, and emergency eCall, while security features include double locks and a Thatcham Category 1-approved alarm.

The eSprinter also comes with two years’ free Mercedes Pro Connect subscription, which allows access to further security features including remote locking, theft warning alerts and geo-fencing.

It also offers real-time vehicle management, covering schedule organising and intelligent route mapping, and Mercedes says it can also assess the battery charge levels and range of an entire fleet.

The standard Always Connected package includes further systems such as Simplified Fleet Communication, Optimised Assistance, Digital Records, Efficiency Fleet Management, Driving Style Analysis, Mobile Vehicle Assess and Digital eVan Management.

There’s also a remote eCharging function enables drivers to programme cooling or heating while their van is still charging.

The eSprinter’s battery is covered by an eight-year, 160,000km warranty, and according to Mercedes has an expected battery capacity of at least 70% after eight years.

The eSprinter is priced from £51,950, excluding VAT and the government’s plug-in van grant.

The model is also eligible for Transport for London’s scrappage scheme, and exempt from ULEZ charges.
