Vauxhall’s Luton manufacturing plant in Luton has built its millionth Vivaro van.
It was handed over to BT Fleet, which Vauxhall said is the biggest Vivaro customer.
According to Vauxhall, a quarter of a million Vivaros have been sold in the UK, including 24,500 so far this year.
The Luton facility – which won the £185m, 10 year-contract when the current-generation model launched in 2014 – is the only van-specific plant in the country, after Ford shut its Transit factory in Southampton in 2013.
“We are very proud to celebrate this milestone at our Luton manufacturing plant,” said Rory Harvey, Vauxhall’s chairman and managing director. “Our hardworking and dedicated workforce at Luton produce vehicles of exceptional quality so it is no surprise these UK-built Vivaro vans are so successful in the marketplace.”
