Renault has simplified the Kangoo van range for 2007 and has cut the price of all entry-level SL versions by £300. The arrival of the new Euro 4 exhaust emission rules mean that the special edition Euro 3 SL Kangoos are being discontinued. That leaves a core line-up of ten SL16, SL17 and SL17+ models.No matter whether you opt for SL or SL+ trim, you can specify either a 75 bhp 1.2-litre petrol engine or a petrol 95 bhp 1.6-litre, although the latter can be ordered solely with an automatic box. A 1.5-litre common rail diesel with power outputs of from 60 bhp to 85 bhp is on offer too. SL19dCi70 Kangoos capable of handling an 800kg payload will appear in the spring.
All SL Kangoos come with remote central locking and RAID, Renault's anti-intruder device that automatically locks all the doors once the driver reaches 5mph. They also get new grey and blue upholstery. SL+ derivatives additionally get electric windows and exterior mirrors, a sliding side cargo area door, an overhead parcel shelf and underseat tray, three-button remote central locking for selective door opening and a trip mileage computer.
Prices range from £8,050 to £11,100. Extra cost options new for 2007 include a driver-controlled speed limiter (£50) and a pack that includes passenger and lateral airbags for £370.
Not to be outdone, Peugeot has launched a Partner with a 1.6-litre HDi diesel engine producing either 75 bhp or 90 bhp.
