Volkswagen has supplied electrical company G D Chalmers with six Transporter vans as part of a new fleet deal.
Another 30 vans are due to be added onto the business’ books by the end of the year as part of the company’s fleet replacement scheme.
G D Chalmers rewires council-owned homes and the six vans will be used to carry engineering equipment around Scotland.
Supplied by VW’s Glasgow Van Centre, the vehicles were chosen for their reliability, build quality and efficiency.
The Transporters are the first VW vehicles to be supplied to the company and have been fitted with tracking and speed-limiting systems to improve G D Chalmers’ safety record.
“We’re delighted to have taken on six Transporters. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is a brand that speaks for itself and we’re proud to be associated with them and for our tradesmen to be driving such a reliable vehicle,” said director of G D Chalmers, Paul Morrow. “They will be driving thousands of miles a week and the Transporter is the ideal vehicle for us to use, as it fits all needs of the business and is a tried and tested product.”
Meanwhile, Volkswagen has launched a live-chat function on its website. Available from 2pm to 10pm seven days a week, customers will be able to receive a speedy response to product queries for the Amarok, Caddy, California, Crafter and Transporter.
Paul Anderson, customer experience manager at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has always aspired to create partnerships with customers, supporting them not only with great products but also high quality and innovative aftersales services. We want to maintain this as the digital communication landscape changes. The new team not only allows us to provide fast and convenient responses for longer, but also allows our staff to share their knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for the brand.”
