A new trial exploring the use of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to power vans is being conducted by Stellantis.
The company – owner of brands including Citroen, Fiat, Peugeot, and Vauxhall – said the HVO Aurora project was developed within Star*Up, its internal intrapreneurship programme.
The trial consists of a month-long European road tour featuring a Citroen Berlingo and a Fiat Professional Ducato, equipped with a sensor from SP3H, to track potential CO2 savings.
All new Stellantis diesel and light commercial vehicles are already compatible with HVO.
Stellantis Pro One head of product and innovation Luca Marengo said: “HVO Aurora shows how we can reduce well-to-wheel emissions immediately, using solutions that work with the vehicles our customers already rely on.
“At Stellantis Pro One, we remain committed to providing practical and scalable ways to help businesses reduce full cycle emissions now.
“This project is a concrete step forward in building a cleaner future for mobility in Europe.”
