Volkswagen has made a new, range-topping engine option available with its Amarok pick-up.
The 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine produces 258hp, with an additional 14hp overboost, and 580Nm of torque.
The engine is available with the top level Highline and Aventura trims, and comes as standard with permanent four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Aventura models with the new engine also get visual upgrades including black roof elements and 20in wheels, and are exclusively available with Peacock Green metallic paint.
Functions such as bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights are standard with Highline and Aventura models, and VW’s Light & Sight pack, which includes leaving and coming home function and intermittent wiper function with rain sensor, is standard with Aventura trim and available as options with Highline, as are front fog lights with cornering lights and electric fold-in exterior mirrors.
The optional roll cover system is now available with a silver aluminium look, and the designer skid plate under the front end of Aventura models is also now coloured in silver.
UK order books for Amaroks with the new engine are expected to open in June with deliveries beginning in September.
UK prices are yet to be confirmed.
