Volkswagen has put a price tag on the Amarok pick-up powered by its new range-topping engine, which will arrive in showrooms in September.
Available from £34,325, excluding VAT, the 3.0-litre V6 Amarok’s diesel engine produces 258hp, with an additional 14hp overboost to take it up to 272hp, and 580Nm of torque.
The engine is available with the top level Highline trim only and comes as standard with permanent four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
It replaces the previous top-specification 224hp drivetrain, which produced maximum torque of 550Nm.
The Amarok remains available with a 204hp (six-speed manual or eight-speed auto) and 163hp (manual only) engine with prices starting from £24,510, excluding VAT.
As well as standard items including ABS, ESP and automatic post-collision braking system, climatronic air conditioning, Composition Media infotainment system with touchscreen and App-Connect, Highline trim adds 18-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights and side bars, front and rear parking sensors with rear-view camera and leather upholstery.
